This picture shows a super giant (30 x 15 cm) "Slim-Mesh" ("SM") during its intrabdominal introduction through a 12-mm Ø port during the fourth phase, i.e. the last laparoscopic step of the "SM" operation, for a massive ventral pseudohernia.
During the third phase of the "SM" operation, the super giant "SM" is also rolled tightly on the operative bench and fixed with multiple stitches, becoming "slim cigarette like" and compact, favoring its intrabdominal introduction/orienting/fixation maneuvers during the fourth phase.
The "SM" blue First Axial Point (FAP) is marked for correct 12-mm port "SM" introduction.
After ensuring that the FAP of the "SM" for the massive pseudohernia repair is in the right position, the super giant "SM" is quickly and easily introduced into the abdomen through the 12-mm Ø port, without removing or swapping the port for a larger one.
The super giant "SM" is used without full-thickness stitches to repair large (L)/giant (G)/massive (M) ventral hernias (VH), without loss of domain, i.e. circular or oval-shaped VH larger than 10/15/20 cm in diameter or major axis respectively. The "SM" technique is also used to treat obese (O BMI >30 kg/m2) patients including those with L/G/M VH and diastasis recti abdominis.
